Apple Warranty Repair · $220-300
The first place people go to find our how to fix their iPad is Apple. The unfortunate news is that the Apple warranty does not cover accidental damage – unless you purchased AppleCare+ for your iPad. Apple does offer an “Out-of-Warranty Service” option. Typically the Out-of-Warranty replacement program means you get a refurbished iPad shipped to you. You will have to ship-in your old iPad before they send you a refurbished replacement. The warranty on the refurbished iPad is 3-months or a continuation of your existing 1-yr warranty – depending on which warranty extends the longest.

A 1-year warranty on the repair should be expected. The total time without your iPad is about 1-week if you choose the free shipping route, but you can cut that time down to 2-3 days if you select overnight shipping.
Local iPad Repair · $135-200
If you have a local shop – or mall kiosk – that repairs Apple products you can decide to drop your iPad off for repair. There are several things you will want to watch out for if you decide to use a local repair company.
- Many of these companies use the cheap parts available on Amazon or eBay for their repairs. If you do choose to stay local, make sure they offer a warranty. A 30 day warranty is not acceptable. Look for at least a 6 month warranty.
- Watch out for companies that claim to repair every type of device. Specialty repair companies are a much better option.
- If it looks like a one man show or if the business is run out of someone’s home – you’ll want to look elsewhere.
- Stay away from any local repair shop that offers same day repair on iPads, there is a good chance that they don’t do very many repairs. A good local repair company will have at least a 1 day wait.
Everyone has different priorities for what they value in an iPad repair, but certainly a good warranty should be on everyones list. If you have the cash and patience to deal with Apple, it might be a good choice for some, but if you want to save money you should choose the Professional iPad Repair option. You’ll get a warranty as good or better than Apple, and you know the repair quality will be excellent. We only recommend the DIY iPad repair option to those who like to tinker with their electronics. It’s a hard repair for sure. Local iPad repairs can also be a good option, as long as you are able to find a reputable company in your area that uses quality parts and have a good reputation.
